Auditors need commercial acumen, strong communication skills and the confidence in their own judgement to make critical business decisions and advise other finance professionals. The type of clients that auditors deal with often depends on the size of the practice. Small and medium-sized firms tend to handle owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurial clients while larger firms offer exposure to plcs and multinationals.
The nature of audit work, which is mostly conducted at client sites, offers enhanced networking and social opportunities. With larger firms, there is also potential for overseas travel. All firms offer partnership potential for auditors that display commitment and strategic thinking.
